The chart
- 45 × 45 stitches, 221 of them worked, the other 1,804 left as bare fabric.
- 2 DMC colours, about 2 skeins in total.
- Whole cross stitches only — no backstitch, no fractional stitches, nothing to unpick at midnight.
Finished size
| Fabric | Inches | Centimetres |
|---|---|---|
| 11-count Aida | 4.1 × 4.1 in | 10 × 10 cm |
| 14-count Aida | 3.2 × 3.2 in | 8 × 8 cm |
| 16-count Aida | 2.8 × 2.8 in | 7 × 7 cm |
| 18-count Aida | 2.5 × 2.5 in | 6 × 6 cm |
Add three inches all round for hooping and framing: on 14-count that means cutting about 10 × 10 inches.

Skein counts include a 20% margin, because running out of a dye lot halfway through is the one mistake you cannot stitch your way out of.
