Privacy

Last updated 15 August 2026

The short version: your photos never leave your device, we run no analytics and no advertising, and the only personal data involved in a purchase is held by Stripe, not by us.

Your photos

When you choose a photo, the browser reads it from your own disk and charts it with JavaScript running in the page. There is no upload step. The image is never sent to our servers, never written to a database, and never seen by us. Close the tab and it is gone.

One exception, and it is still local: when you start checkout, a compressed copy of the photo is placed in your browser's own session storage so your work survives the trip to Stripe and back. It stays on your device, and it is cleared as soon as you return or when you close the tab.

What is stored in your browser

Neither is a tracking cookie, neither is sent anywhere, and you can clear both from your browser settings at any time.

Payments

Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and are never visible to this site. We ask Stripe only two things: to open a checkout session, and afterwards to confirm whether a given session was paid. The pattern's title, stitch count and colour count are attached to the payment so that a support request can be matched to a receipt.

Stripe holds your email address and payment details under its own privacy policy, and will send you a receipt.

Server logs

The site is served as static files, and the payment endpoint runs as a small Cloudflare Worker. Both keep standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, requested path — for security and abuse prevention, as any web server does. These are not linked to purchases and are not used to build a profile.

What we do not do

Your rights

Because we hold almost nothing, most data requests are best directed at Stripe, which holds your purchase record. If you want to know what is associated with a payment of yours, or want it deleted, email hello@thestitchpattern.com with the receipt and we will do what we can and point you to Stripe for the rest.
